Just before Christmas I took the family to Germany for the Christmas markets.
Theyre great places for food, drink and Christmas bits. This year we spent
part of the time in Trier which is one of Germanys oldest towns and can trace
its roots back to pre-Roman times. One of the reminders is Porta Nigra, which
formed part of the old Roman wall.
By coincidence, a few days after we got home the monthly news letter dropped
on my door mat and the first kit I saw was the subject of this review. I also
discovered that there was a kit of Triers Cathedral so I sent off for two new
Christmas presents!
This kit, as you will see comes on one sheet and has only 10 parts. It is most
unusual in that it is made up of photographs, you can even see the streets and
buildings through the arches. Unfortunately, its a high gloss finish and the
card is a tiny bit too thick. I decided that this would fill in a gap while
I waited for the glue to dry on another project. All the instructions are in
German but thats not a problem with so few parts. It looks as if its published
by Breihofer Design.
So, here it is, more of a 'First Look', but here you get a few pictures as well.
Pic 1 Here is a shot of the parts, not a lot compared with some Ive made!
Pic 2 An over head view of the main body parts, as you can see I couldnt
resist a template to keep the end wall symmetrical.
Pic 3 The underside of one of the roofs, as usual I just had to cut off
the tabs to the edges could be butt jointed.
Pic 4 The finished kit, with a few embellishments.
Thats it for this one! Short and sweet the parts fitted well and it made a
pleasant change from television and...Turkey!
