Kit: This is the Pirate Ship Delphin, by Schreiber-Bogen, from Germany. The Pirate Ship Delphin starts as three pieces of paper. It ends up looking like a square rigged twin masted pirate ship. I like the cartoon style of the model. It is also much larger than the other boat models I have built, the pirate ship is about a foot long and a foot and a half tall.

Construction: I built this years ago, and I remember that it was great fun to assemble. The hull is in two sections, front and rear. In the pictures I tried to finish the rear half before I attached the front. This was an interesting model to build, the primary shapes were complex, but the fit of the parts was very exact. I changed the rigging of the sails, I left off the top sails, they were not furled and looked kind of silly without the lower sails.

All in all I had a good time and I am very pleased with the result. And that's what it's all about, isn't it ? A hobby that makes a person happy.

I bought it from Lou Dausse at PMI, Paper Models International, I have been shopping from PMI for years, they have a great catalog.
