The model of Sagrada Famila in Barcelona was the second domus Kit I have built. Initially after having finished my first one, Notre Dame de Paris, I had very mixed feelings about their models, and I did not plan to build another one. Although the printing was very nice, I did not like the pre-cutting and scoring of the pieces. For a number of pieces the cuttings and/or scorings were not accurate, and this caused problems. Furthermore I did not like the thick paper, which was difficult to role, and the final assembly out of big building blocks. However, when I saw the model of Sagrada Familia announced, the fascination for this unique building made me change my mind and I obtained the kit. What I got was a folder holding 37 pages full of nicely printed and colorful pieces plus a small booklet holding diagrams to illustrate the construction. I believe that the design of the kit was well done. However, my experience with this kit resembles my previous ones, and for a long time I had stopped the work on the model, because the incorrect cuttings on the some pieces annoyed me.

The church was divided into six individual building blocks for the Central Unit, Apsis-Choir, Passion Nave, Birth Nave, Gloria Nave, and the Exterior Corridors. They are mostly assembled as independent sections and then connected to finish the building. For a number of pieces there were no indications where to place them on the model, and you have to make your own guess from what is shown in the instructions or you look at the photos on the folder for more help. Most of the pieces are not so difficult to handle, however, due to the size of the model, it does not qualify for beginners. The model will keep you occupied for some time, and the pre-cutting does not change so much about that. Now as I have finished the kit over the holidays, it turned out to be an impressive model with many details to show.
