Silver Fleet

This is to share some test builds using a silver paper that can be printed on. The paper is Red River brand Metallic Silver, and has a plastic coating that makes it very shiny. It can be run through an ink jet printer and accepts the ink without beading or smudging. I have built 6 paper aircraft using this paper, two as direct silver prints, and four as "silver ghosts" . The silver prints were just printed onto the paper, so the markings and details are printed onto the paper. The "silver ghosts" were printed on the opposite side (which is ordinary white paper) and then cut out and assembled inside out, as it were. I did reverse cockpit details, motors, landing gear, so that the printed details could be included. The paper cuts, glues and scores extremely well, and can take complex curves better than most paper. The surface is very shiny, and some of the flash pictures show the mirror like finish. As usual for me, I played with the scale too.

The models are:
Dewoitine 510 1:72, from Pierre Gauriat's web site
F104 Starfighter (silver ghost) - 1:65, from an old JFS model
Gee Bee Z 1:52, Fiddler's Green
"Ike" Racer, 1:33 from Fiddler's Green
PBY2A Catalina 1:270 from a new model recently reprinted by Marcle Models
Dornier J 11 10 Wal, 1:200 from JSC
