The Model:
This was one of the first paper models I had ever ordered. I was used to building ships in wood and plastic, and when I first looked at this kit I was skeptical of a worthy model coming from it, so it sat on the shelf for a while even though the printing and colours are excellent. How wrong I was. It was not a difficult model to build. I had some trouble making the spars and ended up destroying them in the process. I wasn't too heart broken about this though since I prefer using dowels anyway. This allows me to put greater tension on the rigging without fear of collapsing the masts. I touched up the edges of the card with the appropriate colours. This, I felt was particularly important for the hull, since you can no longer see the cut white edges of the card and from several feet away you would never guess the boat was made from paper. The model is one of my favorites and I would recommend it to anybody.
