The Ships
The German Sea Rescue Service (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur
Rettung Schiffbrüchiger DGzRS) implements, promotes and maintains
an efficient maritime search and rescue (SAR) service. It is a private,
independent and voluntary organisation with a fleet of 21 rescue vessels.
To guarantee a maximum of safety and capability, all rescue vessels
are constructed in aluminium. They are self righting and the closed
superstructure allows the comfortable transport of ill or injured persons.
To operate in shallow waters the rescue vessels are equipped with an
automatic daughterboat-system.

The Models
The German Passat-Verlag is well known for highly detailed
card model kits, published one a year in limited editions of 500.
The kit consists of four DIN-A4 sheets with the parts, one plain sheet
for doublings and 18 pages of ship-history and buílding instructions
in German. 8 diagrams illustrate difficult steps of the construction.
A railing template is included, but I followed my method of using painted
flyscreen. The models are 9 and 11cm long, each of them consists of
280 parts. The fit of the parts and the overall quality of the kit is
very good.
The crew are Preiser figures (railway personnel, z-gauge, scale
1:220). The cases are perspex boxes sold here in Germany by Ferrero
with "Mon Cherie" and "Rocher"-chocolate candy, they are very useful
for a dustfree presentation of models up to 17cm length.
