Sweden, coastal defense monitor, 1875

The S�lve was a small coastal defense monitor built in 1875. She was one of the last true monitors built and saw service until 1922. She survived both wars, being converted to an oiling barge in ?. She was sold for scrapping in 1986 and was presented to the Gotenberg Maritime Centre by the scrapyard. She is currently being restored and may be visited at the Centre

This was another of the �Paper Shipwright/David Hathaway� designs that are a real pleasure to build. Like all of David�s other jewels, it comes with diagrams and instructions that in my opinion are some of the best I�ve had the chance to work with. A small model packed with detail, that draws positive comments whenever shown.
